Intake Structure / Outfall Structure

AFCONS EXPERIENCE IN ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION OF
INTAKE AND OUTFALL STRUCTURES

The following is list of projects executed by AFCONS involving large intakes and Outfall Structures related to Power Stations and other projects

Immediately following this note are attached sketches giving brief details of the project, as well as photographs and pamphlets from which an idea of the project as well as construction techniques adopted can be obtained.

1. KALPAKKAM POWER PROJECT IN TAMIL NADU

An Intake well constructed insitu in sea by cofferdam technique, a subsea tunnel bringing in the cooling water from sea.

2. SIKKA THERMAL POWER PROJECT IN GUJARAT

An open channel of 2700m length constructed by dredging technique including rock blasting and rock dredging.

3. VIJAYWADA THERMAL POWER PROJECT

An Intake Structure constructed using Diaphragm Wall technique.

4. TUTICQRIN THERMAL POWER STATION

A 1800m long RCC channel constructed by open excavation and well point technique.

5. WATER INTAKE FOR SHARAT SEAFOOD IN NELLORE IN ANDHRA PRADESH

A 250m aqueduct supported on pile going out in open sea with a Pumphosue at the end supported on open piled structure.

6. TATA THERMAL POWER STATION 5 th AND 6 th UNIT IN BOMBAY

2 Nos, Intake caissons house pumps, trash rack, etc., as well as an approach jetty to the caissons supporting large diameter steel pipelines.

472m long Jetty and Intake Pump Structure.

8. BRILA PERICLASE PROJECT NEAR VISAKHAPATNAM, ANDHRA PRADESH

A 20m dia caisson for Intake with an approach of 350m long piled trestle to

support the Intake pipeline made of steel.

9. CONSTRUCTION OF INTAKE WELL AND PUMP HOUSE FOR BANDEL THERMAL POWER STATION

5 th Unit Extension Project (1 x 210 MW) at Tribeni, West Bengal. An Intake Structure constructed using Diaphragm Wall, Piles and Interlocking Piles.

10. INTAKE AND DISCHARGE STRUCTURE FOR DABHOL POWER PLANT, MAHARASHTRA FOR M/S. BECHTEL INTERNATIONAL INC.

Intake - 1,2m dia concrete pipe 500m long with offshore Intake Structure Piles laid in a trench after rock dredging. Outfall - 1.2m dia concrete pipes 300m long with offshore discharge structure.

11. CONSTRUCTION OF SEA WATER INTAKE STRUCTURE AT VADINAR FOR ESSAR REFINERY PROJECT MARINE OIL TERMINAL AT VADINAR, GUJARAT STATE

Intake Well - 2 Nos 18.4 mtr O.D. RCC Pneumatic Caisson with structural steel Pump House.

Approach Trestle - 400 mtr long and 12 mtr wide supported on RCC bored piles.

12. CONSTRUCTION OF INTAKE JETTY WORK AT SERAMPORE, NEAR CALCUTTA

For Calcutta Metropolitan Water & Sanitation Authority, 60m long jetty and 10.40 mtr wide supported on RCC bored piles of 1.30m dia.

13. CONSTRUCTION OF WORLI AND BANDRA OUTFALL FOR MUMBAI SEWERAGE DISPOSAL PROJECT

The project funded by World Bank included both onshore and offshore work at both Worli and Bandra. Total value of works was Rs.1328 Millions. Details are given is enclosed certificate (Refer attached Annexure).

14. CONSTRUCTION OF SEA WATER INTAKE CHANNEL, TILLING BASIN AND INTAKE PUMP CHAMBER/FIREWATER RESERVOIR AND FILTRATION PACKAGE FOR RELIANCE INDUSTRIES

Major work quantities for the intake channel included dredging of marine clay of 334450 Cum, excavation in soil of 138600 Cum and in hard rock of 91650 Cum, excavation by drilling and blasting and shape charge blasting, other works including bund construction, fabrication of gantries, liners, barges.

15. CONSTRUCTION OF TURBINE BUILDINGS, CCW TUNNELS, DM PLANT, EXTERNAL RCC TRENCHES AND TUNNELS, CHLORINATION PLANT, PUMP HOUSE, FRESH WATER RESERVOIR FOR NUCLEAR POWER CORPORATION OF INDIA

Major quantities executed in the construction of the structures are 175589 Cum of concreting, reinforcement of 19603 MT, other works such as Embed parts, structural steel fabrication, embedded piping, etc.

16. CONSTRUCTION OF INTAKE AND OUTFALL PIPELINE FROM ONSHORE BARGE BERTH TO OFFSHORE END FOR 220 MW BARGE MOUNTED POWER PLANT AT MANAGALORE, KARNATAKA

Total value of work was Rs.31,29,00,497 and included intake and outfall pipeline, offshore intake and discharge and pumphouse structure.

17. COMPLETE PROJECT MANAGEMENT & EXECUTION WORK FOR INTAKE STRUCTURE, SUBMARINE PIPELINE, EFFLUENT DISPOSAL & LOW HEAD PUMP HOUSE AT SUTRAPADA, GUJARAT.

Total value of work is Rs. 22,00,00,000 It is a cost plus contract & includes intake structure, submarine pipeline, effluent disposal & low head pump house.
