The Ambatovy Project in Madagascar is a world-class, large-tonnage, long-life venture that is positioned to be the world's biggest lateritic nickel mine by 2013-2014. This Project is a joint venture of Sherritt International Corporation (Canada), Kores Resource Corporation (Korea) and Sumitomo Corporation (Japan) along with SNC Laval in Inc. (Canada). The EPCM Contractor to the Project is SNC Lavalin Inc. (Canada).
Afcons was awarded Package C-0106-2, Construction of Galana Oil jetty for Oil Carriers up to a capacity of 78,000 DWT and Extension of Mole B for Ship Berthing up to capacity of 50.000DWT.
Afcons commenced work in February 2008 and successfully completed the works in March 2010.
