Transportation
Tunneling
In Tunneling, we are constructing 9 adjacent tunnels aggregating about 10 Km in Jammu region for KRCL. We have also recently been awarded Tunnel Project valuing USD 325 Mn. from Border Roads Organisation (In JV with Strabag of Germany). In this sector, we have made strategic tie-up with TransTonnelStroy of Russia for upcoming projects of Kolkata Metro and Chennai Metro.
AFCONS entered into the field of tunneling in the late eighties when it carried out tunneling work for Calcutta Metro Railway, wherein a special blade shield technique was used for the construction of tunnel in soft soil. The complete blade shield was designed and fabricated by AFCONS inhouse.
Tunnel construction in collapsible material is a specialized construction and AFCONS was the company first in India to have successfully executed such civil work by using Jet Grouting. AFCONS also executed another major tunnel project for South Eastern Railway at Lilligumma, when a contractor failed to overcome hazards due to collapsible soil and the work was awarded to AFCONS. AFCONS also executed Honnavar Tunnel for KRCL by using the blade shield technique.
AFCONS is now executing prestigious Tunnel Project ‘Construction of BG Single Line Tunnel on Katra - Laole Section of Udhampur - Srinagar - Baramulla Rail Link Project' for KRCL costing Rs.3558 Million.
AFCONS has completed total Tunnel length of 3946 m & tunnel work for 10223 m is in progress
Hydro Works
In Hydro, we have made our entry by completing the job of Desilting Arrangement at Koldam Hydro-Electric Project for NTPC. In this sector, we have made project specific tie-up for the bidding purpose.
